This position is an integral part of the Disciple Development Team as Light of Christ Catholic Montessori School will have its inaugural class in the 2025-26 school year. All new children and families who are part of this journey are encouraged to know the love of Christ and the freedom in following his will.   School staff has the important role of setting the tone and designing the cultural fabric of this new house of children. The guiding principles of the school are to help foster independence, faithfulness and concentration in children.


Ministerial Character

Catholic schools in the Diocese of Austin are canonically obedient to the Bishop and assist him in fulfilling his ministry and canonical obligations. Pastors, presidents, and principals serve as leaders of the schools to make Christ's mission present and enduring in the schools. In order to fulfill Christ's mission, the school leaders employ suitable, chosen collaborators, sharing with them Christ's mission and entrusting to them various responsibilities.


Positions employed in this School help extend the ministry of the School leaders in particular ways as outlined in the job description. The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the School leaders in the performance of their ministry and, therefore, engages in ministry for the Church.


Essential Duties

  This position is seeking an enthusiastic and well-rounded individual to wear a variety of hats in the school’s first year of operation. 

  • Front office duties include greeting parents upon drop off at the start of the day. 
  • Stepping into Montessori classrooms to provide breaks to guides and assistants will be a service you provide, as well as playground monitor duties at particular points in the day. 
  • There may also be material-making tasks requested by the classroom guides that involve cutting, laminating, copying with precision and an eye for beauty with every task no matter how simple. 
  • Being able to confidently navigate the many online tools and resources necessary for scheduling and administrative duties is essential. 
  •  It is strongly preferred that the candidate has familiarity with Montessori education and/or Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, as those provide the pedagogical frameworks for the school. 
  • Must love and value children and have a comfort and compassion for dealing with families. 
  • Flexibility, a positive attitude and comfort navigating uncertainty are all qualities that will be valued in this position. 
  • Physical capability to effectively use and operate equipment such as, but not limited to a computer, calculator, copier, and telephone. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions are required. 
  • EIM Certification, a Montessori assistants training course prior to the start of school and CGS Level 1 Training will be required as part of this position. 
  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • College Degree Required 

Certifications and Training:

  • Training in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is Preferred
  • Familiarity with Montessori pedagogy or an interest to learn and become well-versed
  • Must submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) Application for Ministry within the first week of employment, participate in an EIM Basic abuse prevention training workshop within 30 days of submitting a complete Application for Ministry, and maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License Required
Requirements

This role will work approximately 5-6 hours per day.  (8am - 1 or 2pm)

There are 180 days of school, plus 7 required staff development days planned in the 2025-2026 school year.

Salary Description
$18 - $25 per hour, based on experience
