MikeWorldWide (MWW) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Account Executive located in our New Jersey office in Hasbrouck Heights to work on several key accounts within the corporate reputation and public affairs space. Clients include interests in health care, transportation, insurance, not-for-profits, education and public policy.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Draft press releases, pitch letters, etc.; conduct background research and prepare briefing memos/documents for client interviews/media opportunities
· Call and pitch media as assigned; begin to build relationships with relevant journalists and influencers, developing pitches and securing media coverage
· Participate in logistical operations of special events planning and coordination
· Coordinate and distribute client media materials
· Serve as liaison between clients, vendors, and agency departments to coordinate efficient and timely processing of materials
· Schedule and coordinate client and internal meetings; keep participants advised of changes; develop meeting agendas and recaps
· Proofread internal and client documents for accuracy and quality
· Interact with clients as deemed necessary by account team leader
· Conduct media monitoring and analysis and prepare reports for distribution to client(s), as necessary
· Develop and maintain media contact lists and databases, updating regularly and mining for new contacts
· Scan daily, weekly, monthly and online publications to identify and flag client-relevant media coverage and contacts, including competitive market and industry information; clip and track placements as necessary
· Monitor social channels and assist in developing content
· Perform ad hoc account management tasks as assigned
What You Have to Have (Education and Experience Requirements):
· Internship experience in a public relations agency or the communications department of a company in a relevant industry
· Bachelor’s degree in public relations, a related field or in the liberal arts
· Maintain a professional, client-ready demeanor and presence; keep a high standard of etiquette in all communications and interactions
· Superior oral and written communication skills; great eye for consistency and proofreading skills
· Ability to prioritize multiple assignments; detail focused, organized and deadline-oriented with strong time management skills
· Entry level understanding of media writing and media relations (pitching, writing releases, and ability to find creative angles)
· Demonstrate an understanding of and affinity for digital tools and social media platforms, and AI program such as ChatGBT
· Familiarity and basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Muck Rack, Cision, Moreover, Factiva, TV Eyes and other monitoring tools
· Required to be in NJ office twice a week and travel to client meetings in NJ (as needed)
