Description

Keuka College is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the college campus, including short-term rental units and laundry services. This role requires a strong work ethic, excellent time management skills, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. The Custodian will ensure that all areas, including guest accommodations and common spaces, are impeccably clean and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. The position offers weekend shifts (Saturdays and Sundays, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM) with additional hours available. Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing guest houses between short-term rentals. Tasks include deep cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, living spaces, and common areas to ensure a high standard of cleanliness. Prepares each rental with fresh linens, restocks essential supplies, and inspects for maintenance needs to provide a welcoming and comfortable experience for guests.
  • Responsible for washing, drying, and maintaining linens and rags used on campus. Ensures cleanliness, proper handling, and efficient turnaround of laundry items to support campus operations.
  • Performs general cleaning and sanitizing tasks and services throughout assigned buildings. 
  • Maintains a neat and orderly supply closet; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked. 
  • Performs general cleaning and sanitizing in bathrooms, kitchens, hallways, classrooms, offices, living spaces and common areas. 
  • Performs restorative work to floors such as vacuuming, mopping, buffing, stripping, and waxing. 
  • Pick up and empties trash containers. 
  • Report any safety or maintenance deficiencies to the lead custodian or facilities manager.  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

  

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing.
  • Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to operate tools or equipment used in routine cleaning.
  • The job hours will be scheduled based on business needs, and the candidate must be flexible with their availability each week including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Must pass a background check.
