Electrical Engineer
Description

The Role:

EPC Power is looking to add an electrical engineer to our engineering team. In this role you will work closely with experienced engineers on a variety of activities including circuit design, printed circuit board development and testing, inverter and component testing, and manufacturing support. After training and becoming familiar with EPC products, you will be an integral part of the electrical engineering team. You will have opportunities to contribute to new product design, customer requests, lab testing, PCB development and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Design and develop automated PCBA functional testers.
  • Lead full-cycle PCBA design, including simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
  • Collaborate closely with software, embedded, test, and mechanical teams.
  • Perform thorough board bring-ups to validate and troubleshoot new designs.
  • Operate and monitor power inverters as part of system-level testing, ensuring performance, efficiency, and reliability meet design specifications. Conduct troubleshooting, data collection, and analysis to validate functionality under various load conditions.
  • Work directly with technicians for PCBA rework and electrical assembly builds.
  • Document designs, engineering change orders (ECOs), and testing procedures.
  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing and Quality teams as needed.
  • Occasional travel (<10%) to support projects.

Requirements:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years experience in an electrical engineering role.
  • 2+ years using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, current probes, multimeters, soldering stations, signal generators, DAQs, thermal chambers).
  • 1+ years of PCB design experience using Altium Designer or similar.
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits and power electronics fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in circuit simulation tools (LTspice, PSpice, or similar).
  • Ability to analyze failures and troubleshoot electronic circuits effectively.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing circuits in a lab environment.
  • Expertise in analog circuit design (op-amps, amplifiers, filters, signal conditioning).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with standard communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, CAN, USB, Ethernet, UART).
  • Experience with FPGAs, DSPs, and SoCs.
  • Proficiency in soldering for prototyping and repairs.
  • Experience designing PCBs for high currents and voltages.
  • Expertise in high-speed digital PCB design, including length matching, differential pair routing, and controlled impedance.
  • Understanding of creepage and clearance rules per IEC/UL (upwards of 850VAC/1500VDC).
  • Understanding of power semiconductor devices (SiC FETs, MOSFETs, IGBTs, diodes) and their applications.
  • Experience with inverter and converter topologies (VSIs, CSIs, PWM techniques, buck/boost converters, flyback, multi-level converters).
  • Knowledge of thermal management techniques in power electronics systems.

Benefits:

  • 401(k) matching
  • Dental and vision insurance
  • Disability insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Flexible spending account
  • Health insurance
  • Life insurance
