Job Summary:      

Assists the CFO/ACFO with account analysis, audit, budget, cost report, month end and board reports

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists in the development of accounting and internal control policies and systems.
  • Assists in providing advice to department managers in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports and in presenting that information to their departments.
  • Ensures that a monthly time schedule is followed for the processing of computer reports necessary for the preparation of monthly financial statements; implements corrective action as necessary to meet established deadlines, including special projects.
  • Keeps informed of all government regulations and procedures affecting the Hospital finances and accounting procedures.
  • Prepares monthly general and standard journal entries.
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations.
  • Prepares daily patient census and cash data report.
  • Assists with monthly and year-end close.
  • Assists with yearly budget
  • Consistently completes all assignments in a timely manner, thorough and appropriately detailed.
  • Assists in pulling together all the necessary information needed to compare revenue and expenses and determine the hospital’s actual financial position.
  • Effectively maintains all required records for the department and demonstrates good organizational skills.
  • Assists in monitoring the implementation of checks and balances which continually evaluates accounting practices, reporting procedures and record keeping.
  • Prepares the monthly administration and board financial packages
  • Assists accounting staff with necessary advice relating to accounting issues
  • Develop special reports and updates spreadsheets as needed to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Keep Fixed Asset listing updated
  • Assists with any conversions or updates to accounting systems
  • Discuss Department Budgets with Directors and add input and guidance

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of general accounting including thorough skills knowledge plus the application of general accounting theory.
  • Must be proficient in MS word, and Excel software programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must have good command of the English language, oral and written.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:     

  • Education – Accounting degree, BS in accounting preferred
  • Work Experience – Two years hospital experience or equivalent
  • Training
  • License/Certification

ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
