CHEST is looking for motivated and talented individuals to join our team under our internship program for Summer 2025. The goal of this program is to help further develop your skills in a professional business setting, better preparing you for your future career.
As an intern, you will be working closely with a supervisor who will provide you with real hands-on projects and daily tasks. Interns will be able to apply classroom-based knowledge to projects and gain essential skills needed to be career-ready. CHEST interns will have the opportunity to CRUSH LUNG DISEASE by working alongside experienced, passionate professionals in a flexible, innovative, mission-driven hybrid environment.

Responsibilities:
This is an exciting opportunity for an intern to experience a wide range of functions and responsibilities related to the expansive field of DEI, including:
- Assist in coordinating DEIB workshops, lunch and learns, and educational opportunities for CHEST staff.
- Take the lead on producing internal DEIB monthly awareness communications.
- Attend DEIB Committee, CHEST Health Equity Task Force, and DEI Editorial Work Group meetings.
- Provide support to CHEST member Interest Groups working on publication efforts, webinars, and other projects.
- Collaborate with Senior Specialist of Member Equity and Inclusion on member-facing DEIB-related communications.
- Engage in collection and input of demographic data.
- Participate in additional projects and opportunities to support DEIB efforts.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, with a preferred major in Communications, Business (with an HR or Marketing focus), Women's and Gender Studies, American Studies, Political Science, Sociology, or Liberal/Interdisciplinary Arts.
Because equity and inclusion are skills that are cultivated across dynamic fields of study, the major is less important than the following skills:
- Demonstrated commitment to intersectional equity and inclusion.
- Understanding of the importance of fostering inclusive excellence and belonging in the workplace.
- Working knowledge of health disparities and health inequities and social drivers of health.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Interest in and commitment to relationship building and networking.
Additional Information:
The hourly pay for this position is $20/hr. The anticipated weekly hours for this position are approximately 20 hours per week, in a hybrid work environment.
