The IT Department Lead at Mercy Culture Church is a visionary, strategic, and hands-on leader responsible for overseeing and managing the church’s global IT infrastructure across all campuses. This role is more than just a technical position—it requires a spiritually mature leader who will steward technology as a tool to advance the vision of Mercy Culture— to take people from corporate encounters with God to daily personal encounters with God. The IT Department Lead will spearhead the initiative to bring IT services in-house, working closely with our current Managed Service Provider (MSP) to transition all technology operations seamlessly and build an internal department.

Operations Director
Technology Leadership & Strategy
- Oversee and manage the church's global network infrastructure, ensuring stability, security, and scalability.
- Identify technology needs and provide strategic recommendations to central & executive leadership for future growth and development.
- Lead the transition from an outsourced IT model to an internal IT department, developing policies, processes, and best practices.
- Evaluate the organization's adherence to cybersecurity best practices and implement necessary security measures to protect church data and digital assets.
- Work with MC Media & Production to establish seperate but connected networks for their team workload
IT Operations & Support
- Manage and lead the internal IT staff, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all technology-related initiatives.
- Oversee and support the central operations serve team in all IT-related functions.
- Maintain, update, and upgrade church hardware, software, and technology infrastructure.
- Implement church-wide technology updates and train staff on new systems and processes.
- Ensure best practices are followed for network security, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
- Provide IT support and ticket resolution for MC Staff, campuses, and Serve team members.
Training & Communication
- Provide excellent written and verbal communication to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Conduct training sessions for staff to ensure proper use and understanding of technology tools and systems.
- Lead and mentor the IT team and serve team, fostering a culture of innovation, stewardship, and servant leadership.
- Stay up to date on the latest IT developments and translate complex technical concepts into practical applications for church operations
- Proven experience in IT leadership, preferably in a church, nonprofit, or enterprise environment.
- Proficiency in Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti platforms for network management.
- Proficient in managing the Microsoft 365 environment and Azure Single SignOn (Active Directory)
- Proficiency in key software platforms, including Planning Center Online, Slack, and Notion
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and IT governance.
- Experience leading IT transitions, particularly in bringing outsourced IT services in-house.
- Ability to problem-solve and think critically in fast-paced, high-impact environments.
- Strong leadership and teaching skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms.
- Self-starter with a “builder? mindset—able to run, build, and execute IT initiatives with minimal oversight.
