The Production Worker is responsible for performing methods of NDT. Emphasis is placed on quality of surface and sub surface defects. New 2-2-3 schedule with 12 hours shifts.

We are hiring a Foundry Team Lead that will support the operations, promote adherence to the production system, lead corrective actions and continuous improvement every day. 

Requirements

   

What you will do

  • Maintain a safe working      environment within the cell.
  • Complete Team Leader      Standardized Work. 
  • Conduct attendance roll-call;      inform Group Leader of team member absences. 
  • Lead start of shift meeting per      agenda.
  • Assign team member resources to      achieve daily production requirements.
  • Assist team members with      product labeling and transacting. 
  • Short-term relieve operators      within the cell as needed.
  • Post-performance data on hourly      boards.
  • With assistance of Group      Leader, develop, train, and audit Standardized Work.
  • Coordinate achievement of      training goals in cell. Train operators, track training progress.      Recertify operators periodically.
  • Follow escalation protocols for      all processes. 
  • Manage cell processes to      achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI). 
  • Drive cell / line level      corrective action and continuous improvement activities. 
  • Other duties may be      assigned. 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret      documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and      procedure manuals.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense      understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or      diagram form.
  • Proven ability to lead and      manage a team in a manufacturing environment. 

Foundry Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Charges melt furnaces
  • Cleans furnaces and launders as      scheduled
  • Samples specific gravity of furnaces      and adjusts as needed
  • Receives and unloads incoming metal      shipments
  • Monitors furnace temperatures
  • Complete necessary record keeping
  • Assists in equipment repairs
  • Required to follow any other      instructions and to perform any other duties upon request of the supervisor
  • Complies with the following OSHA      Safety Standards: Hazard Communication; Bloodborne Pathogens; Lockout;      Permit Required Confined Space; Hot Work Permit; Powered Industrial      Trucks; P.P.E. and Ergonomics
  • When necessary, participate in      classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques      deemed helpful to performance on the job

· Monitors metal level in launder and taps metal out of reverbs as needed

· Monitors metal level in reverb, adjusts reverb temperature and charges metal sows, scrap castings, and gates as needed 

· Makes alloy additions to the reverb as instructed by Lab personnel

· Verify quantities on scrap tickets brought to the reverb area.

· Flux, scrape, and skim holding furnaces, casting furnaces, and launders as assigned.

· Removes metal buildup on outside of furnaces and casters as needed

· Flux, scrape, and skim portions of reverb furnaces as assigned.

· Pull metal sample from holders and casters according to specified minimum frequencies and places them under vacuum bell

· Verify that vacuum stand is operating correctly

· Weigh solidified sample and determine the specific gravity of the sample

· Adjust degasser settings as needed

· Add hydrogen tablets to metal as needed

· Inspect metal prior to offloading to ensure that it was approved by the lab and that there is no moisture or contaminants on the sows

· Off load the metal with a lift truck and stack it in the appropriate area

· Check furnace temperatures according to specified minimum frequencies

· Check furnace amperages according to specified minimum frequencies

· Contact supervision and/maintenance as needed to insure any issues are addressed

· Fill out the appropriate melt forms at the proper times and in a legible manners and files them in the correct locations

· Assist the Melt Operator and Maintenance personnel with repairs to melt equipment

· Accurately complete documentation on charge log/chip processing log

· Chip melt cleaning log tasks and document

· Fill chip hopper

· Lock/unlock chip bay trailers

· Operate chip melt processing system

· Operate front end loader(s)

  • Other duties as assigned

Heat Treat Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the condition of all heat      treat equipment
  • Answer and address any alarms
  • Conducts equipment checks and surveys
  • Assists in NDT hardness checking
  • Assists in the loading and unloading of the heat treat system
  • Runs straightener as necessary to support production. 
  • Advise supervisor of any unsafe condition or equipment problems
  • Regularly scheduled follow up training and competency evaluation will take place annually and be      included with an employee’s annual evaluation summary and maintained by HR in the employee records.
  • Required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties upon request of the supervisor
  • When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques      deemed helpful to performance on the job
  • Other duties as assigned

Lead Duties:

· Train, mentor and advise new employees in proper methods and standards for Heat Treat operations, basic trouble shooting, hardness checking, straightening and general operation of the cell. This may involve going to different shifts for short periods of time. 

· Understand all aspects of the Heat Treat system and get Production Supervision, Maintenance, and Metallurgist involved when there are issues with the equipment. 

· Assist in scheduling, setting up and monitoring equipment or part tests.

· As lead you are always looking to understand if the equipment is running in the proper manner. 

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (HSED or GED) required. 
  • Associate's degree in manufacturing, engineering, metallurgy, or related field preferred. 
  • Minimum 6 months related experience in a manufacturing environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

  • Sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. 
  • Walk, climb or balance, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which include: 

  • Special safety precautions (e.g., working around moving machines in production facilities.).
  • Protective clothing or gear such as safety glasses/goggles, gloves and shoes will be required. 
  • May be exposed to hot and cold temperature variables with extreme humidity contingent on weather      conditions. 
  • Noise level in the manufacturing work environment requires the use of hearing protection.
