Job Title: Community Life Assistant
Job Type: Full-time
As a Community Life Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and implementation of recreational activities for our residents. You will work closely with our residents to ensure that their social, emotional, and physical needs are met.
Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and implementing recreational activities for residents
Encourage and motivate residents to participate in activities
Assist in the setup and cleanup of activity areas
Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities
Provide one-on-one support to residents who require additional assistance
Collaborate with other staff members to ensure that activities are appropriate and meet the needs of residents
Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Six (6) months to 1 year of experience working with seniors, performing activity related duties, or in a healthcare setting preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
Compassionate and patient demeanor
Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed
Willing to enroll in a training course for activities within six (6) months of employment.
Knowledge of the aging process and various resident activities.
Ability to assume leadership role in the Activity Department in the absence of the Activity Director.
Skilled at working with individuals who have cognitive, physical or sensory disabilities.
Practical knowledge of how an Activity Department functions in a nursing facility.
General knowledge of regulatory requirements for an activity program in a long-term care facility.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
Moderate physical activity:
Requires handling of average-weight objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Repetitive standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Repetitive bending and/or stooping for more than one (1) hour at a time.
Sitting for more than two (2) hours at a time.
May require consistent computer work with repetitive typing and concentrating on computer screen.
Physical ability to travel to sites.
