Description


Category Director is a leadership role that involves leveraging data-driven insights, collaborating cross-functionally to optimize product mix, and building external partnerships to expand category influence. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the adult beverage market, a strategic mindset, and a track record of delivering measurable category growth.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of a long-term vision and strategic shelf plan for the Phusion portfolio with top retailer accounts.
  • Analyze market trends, consumer preferences, and competitive activities to identify key opportunities for expansion.
  • Define category KPIs and work with the Analytics & Insights team to create regular reporting methods to track progress.
  • Evaluate category performance regularly and recommend refinements to product lines, packages, or brand positioning.
  • Work closely with Sales and key account teams to deliver category insights.
  • Attend customer meetings, industry conferences, and trade events to gather market feedback and foster strategic relationships.
  • Develop tools and training materials to empower customer-facing teams with category expertise.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in category management within the adult beverage industry.
  • Proficiency in syndicated data tools (e.g., IRI, Nielsen, or similar) and translating data into strategic insights.
  • Demonstrated success in developing category growth strategies and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels—internal and external.
  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical thinking with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 50%) for customer meetings, trade shows, and market visits.
