Position Overview

The Controller will oversee the financial operations of four marketing agencies, leading the Accounting Department to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all financial activities. This individual is responsible for financial reporting, internal controls, and the supervision of accounting staff. The Controller plays a critical role in maintaining financial stability and supporting business decisions through data-driven insights.


The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep experience in managing financial operations, budgets, and reporting in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Mentor, train, and supervise the Accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely execution of all financial deliverables.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports to support decision-making by agency leadership.
  • Budget & Forecast Management: Collaborate with Executive teams to develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and performance tracking.
  • Month-End Close: Oversee the monthly close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis.
  • Internal Controls: Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Cash Flow & Vendor Management: Monitor cash flow, manage vendor relationships, and ensure prompt payment processing.
  • Banking & Audit Liaison: Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and other financial partners, supporting audits and other financial reviews.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate financial processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Collaboration: Partner with other departments to ensure financial policies and procedures are clearly communicated and adhered to across agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial and accounting management experience or 3 years in public accounting. 
  • Experience  in marketing, advertising, media or other service industries preferred.
  • Expertise in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, with hands-on experience in ERP or financial management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control principles.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.

Communication & Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend complex instructions and correspondence.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both one-on-one and group settings.
  • Ability to apply logical reasoning to solve problems involving multiple variables.

Work Environment

  • Normal office environment with hybrid work flexibility.
