GENERAL DESCRIPTION (PURPOSE)

Reach and Equip students with the gospel of Jesus Christ as the primary Minister of the Middle School Ministry of

Valley Youth.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION (SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & EDUCATION)

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, cast, and implement a vision that moves a church or organization in a positive direction
  • Ability to instill values and vision into volunteer leaders
  • Love for youth and desire for them to encounter Christ
  • Ability to actualize the vision created by the student pastor
  • Ability to communicate effectively to parents
  • Ability to recruit and train volunteer leaders who fit the culture and values of NPHX Valley Youth
  • Demonstrated administrative skills
  • Experience utilizing software platforms to organize, strategize, and accomplish ministry needs
  • Competency in communicating Biblical truth and Scripture faithfully
  • Relational and evangelistic giftings are required
  • Strong, infectious walk with Christ
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and lead strategically is preferred
  • Ability and desire to mentor and disciple students and leaders
  • A committed Christian living a life of obedience; beliefs consistent with NPHX Church statement of faith
  • Reliable transportation is required
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience required
  • Must become a member of NPHX Church


SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Evaluation criteria based on these responsibilities listed on review forms)

Leadership of Middle School Ministry and Volunteer Coordination ~ 40%

  •  Lead and Oversee middle school ministry 6th-8th grade
  •  Design, program and execute weekly engaging gatherings, and monthly events for middle school students
  •  Design, program, and execute major middle school ministry events such as camp and mission trip
  •  Implement a Connect Group structure within the middle school ministry
  •  Recruit, train, and equip volunteers and leaders for the middle school ministry
  •  Retain current volunteer leaders by building relationship and cultivating a community that leaders desire to be a part of. 
  •  Assure that leaders are communicated with about the various changes or events of the ministry

 Know the health of Connect Groups and identify opportunities for growth


 Student Discipleship and Outreach ~ 25%

  • Ensure that our middle school student feel plugged in at Valley Youth
  • Ensure that middle school students have the ability to take “next steps” in their faith
  • Build relationships with middle school students to know common problems that are faced, and the context of their spiritual lives
  • Partner with parents to equip families in discipling their middle school students
  • Build relationships with middle schools in the area (clubs, sports teams, FCA)

Planning and Operationalizing Ministry ~ 25%

  • Ensure that our events cater to and engage a wide array of middle school students
  • Develop systems and processes for greater middle school students engagement
  • Develop and Manage an annual calendar and budget of ministry events for middle school
  • Carry out administrative tasks required to actualize ministry opportunities
  • Assure that creative materials are produced in a timely way in order to market our ministry events effectively
  • Implement and follow communication systems and strategies that effectively inform our families, middle
  • school students, and leaders


Self-Development/Growth ~ 5%

  • Reading and consuming resources that help you grow in your walk with Christ
  • Developing your skill set that will allow you to be more effective at your position
  • Meeting with other church leaders or mentors that will give you a new perspective and ideas for ministry
  • Courses or conferences that may help you to develop leadership ability


NPHX Church Ministerial Functions ~ 5%

  • Teach, facilitate, or train at events as requested
  • Encourages spiritual focus and commitment by modeling the core values of NPHX church
  • Works cohesively with other members of the ministry staff
  • Be a part of Sunday worship or other events that are required of all staff
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor – not to exceed 5%
