JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the General Sales Manager, the Area Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing sales operations within an area. The position involves developing and implementing sales strategies to drive revenue growth and achieve performance targets. The Area Manager will manage and support a team of sales executives and merchandisers, while providing coaching and development to enhance their effectiveness and productivity. 


Key responsibilities include setting and tracking sales goals, analyzing performance metrics, and ensuring the team meets or exceeds sales objectives. The Area Manager also works to build strong customer relationships, identify market opportunities, and monitor competitive activities to ensure the area’s success. The Area Manager’s leadership and strategic vision will be crucial in driving sales performance and profitability across the area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and execute the area planning, process and business strategy
  • Develop and achieve area KPIs
  • Monitor YTD and MTD progress of the team and individuals
  • Conduct weekly KPI progress meetings then document in Paylocity under Journals
  • Partner with HR to develop and document PIPs (Performance Improvement Plan) for low performers
  • Facilitate formal training and development (PPT, Book Review, video, etc.)
  • Ensure you and those on your team attend and participate in various mandatory company meetings
  • Be a brand ambassador by communicating brand strategy, standards, and prioritization to area sales executives
  • Ensure Mexcor standards and guidelines are followed- pricing, programming, expenses, reporting, confidentiality, A/R, logistics and orders
  • Travel with your team members at least once a month and observe and assist sales executives in the sales process
  • Oversee chain calls and develop relationships with chains and key accounts
  • Ensure all accounts in your area have your business card, met you and understand you are the contact person for any issues with a sales executive in your area
  • Network and identify outside talent for potential opportunities within Mexcor
  • Serve as backup to other Area Managers and open positions on your team

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time may include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or mobile device
  • Physical demands with activity or condition may include walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping
  • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include driving throughout the day with segments up to 2 hours
  • May require lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 56lbs

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Knowledge of the industry preferred
  • Proven track record in achieving sales goals and executing market programs that support corporate initiatives
  • Strong PC application skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and professionally
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • The ability to interact across teams in a fast-paced environment 
  • Financial understanding and acumen
  • Must be proactive, resourceful, and efficient
  • This position requires attendance at local meetings, local travel and occasional out-of-town travel
  • Driving record must be within MVR policy guidelines throughout employment.
  • Must be able to pass a background and drug screening for hire and randomly throughout employment.
