We are currently seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Practice/Internal Medicine Physician to join our dynamic IHS team at White Earth Health Center in Ogema, MN. As a physician in our IHS Family medical clinic, you will have the opportunity to provide exceptional medical care to patients of all ages and health concerns.  This is a Full -Time Contract /Locums MD or DO opportunity in our IHS Family medical clinic.

  • 8 hour shifts 8am-5pm Monday thru Friday
  • Full Time Hours
  • Up to 1 year contract with additional extension options
  • Family Practice or Internal Medicine experience as an MD Required
  • 2-3 years of experience Needed
  • IHS facility experience preferred
  • Previous Locum Tenens experience preferred
  • Board certification needed
  • Work on any US license
  • Adult and Pediatric experience needed

Family Practice Physician duties:

· Examines and diagnoses the health-related conditions of individuals requesting care, 

· Refers individuals for consultation when appropriate, 

· prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate therapy in conformance with approved clinical privileges. 

· Educates individuals in the nature of health-related conditions, recommended therapy, and in the general promotion of health and the prevention of disease.

· Records patient-provider transactions in the problem oriented medical record format and completes required data collection instruments, referrals, and medical records as required.

· Maintains Medical Staff clinical privileges as granted by the facility governing body or Service Unit Credentials Committee.

· Fully participates in medical staff functions such as medical program review, quality assurance activities, and organizational functions including attending meetings and accepting committee assignments.

· Resuscitates patients, performs general physical exams, neurological, or other examinations. Orders

· laboratory tests and radiographic examinations such as x-rays, sonograms, or ultrasounds as needed.

· Assists in the provision of continuing education, on-the-job training, and orientation of Indian Health

· Service and Tribal Staff as requested. Also, assists in the provision of technical assistance to tribal and community groups as requested.

· Routine duties shall include providing medical care and public health services to individuals eligible for services provided by the IHS in homes, schools, clinics, job sites, and other community locations within the Service Unit.

Requirements

 

  • Completion of a (3) year residency program in a primary care specialty such as Family Practice, Pediatrics or Internal Medicine.
  • Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Must be Board Eligible or Certified, Board certification in Family Medicine 
  • Must have current BLS, Basic Life Support certification
  • Certification of Education - copy of diploma or transcripts
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program 
  • DEA license and eligibility to prescribe medication 
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in family practice
  • may require a current drivers license
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong  diagnostic, clinical, organizational and time-management skills 
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Must be a US citizen living primarily in the United States
  • Willingness to comply with all state and federal regulations regarding medical practice 
  • must be willing to undergo a federal background check
