SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Process Engineer leads technical initiatives for new hair and body product development, applying lab-based expertise to align production-scale procedures and enhance technology transfer. This role will guide chemists and compounders in creating a robust manufacturing process. Additionally, the engineer will provide support to the compounding, quality assurance, and production departments for marketed products, focusing on identifying and resolving production process issues to drive improvements at House of Cheatham. Formulation-related projects will be assigned as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Process
- Ensure successful scale-up of formulations from lab to pilot to full production
- Ongoing review of all processes used within Manufacturing to identify gaps and areas for improvement
- Create program recommendations based on gap closure to achieve cost reduction, efficiency improvement, quality improvement, scrap reduction, etc.
- Collect data providing evidence of improvement and report the same to Management
Investigations
- Work in conjunction with Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing on investigations
- Lead the technical investigation process including documentation review, laboratory batches, pilot plant batches, laboratory testing, contact with suppliers, etc.
- Fully document the findings of all investigations in a comprehensive and compliant manner
- Recommend and drive closure to corrective actions
- Report investigation trends and report the same to Management
Other
- R&D formulation projects (NPD / reformulations)
- Miscellaneous laboratory activities as assigned
Requirements
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE
- 2+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment with focus of process improvement
- Cosmetic science / formulation experience is highly preferred
- Read, write and communicate in English
- Knowledge and proficiency at Word, Excel, a minimum
- REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Minimum 4-year technical degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering
- WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Computer usage and typing
- Working in the production environment, on feet, climbing, heights, etc.
- Working in hot and cold manufacturing area and a standard laboratory
- Working onsite 4 days and remote 1 day
