POSITION SUMMARY: 

Responsible for assisting campers/visitors with boating equipment, teaching proper strokes, and teaching how to properly enter and exit the watercraft while creating a safe and fun environment. Provide proper information, training and supervision of the boating area.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow proper area opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure the safety of all campers & guests utilizing the waterfront area; remedy all unsafe practices or conditions immediately.
  • Apply the boating area policies and procedures at all times.
  • Maintain positive public relations with campers and guests.
  • Instruct skills and safety classes, and administer different levels.
  • Inspect issue and maintain canoeing equipment; document unsafe equipment and remove from the inventory to be repaired or replaced.
  • Acts as a senior staff member, working with the Camp Coordinator and other senior staff members, in the coordination of camp activities.  
  • Provide first aid in emergency situations.

WORK SCEHDULE: Seasonal / Monday-Thursday (12pm-4pm) June – August.

Requirements

 KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current certification CPR and first aid (or willingness to obtain certification)
  • Must be able to teach patrons and members the proper techniques and fundamentals of outdoor education.
  • Knowledge of the outdoors and basic survival skills.
  • Must be 18 or older 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience working with kids.
  • Certified in Standard First Aid and CPR, 
  • Certified Small Crafts- Kayak/Canoeing Boating Level 1, or other equivalent certification
  • You must be able to teach patrons & members the proper techniques and fundamentals of boating (personalized watercraft).
  • Experience in the outdoors. 
Salary Description
$113.00 per day
