Buyer; Purchasing
Description

Position Summary:

The Purchasing Buyer is responsible for leading purchasing activities to ensure the timely procurement of materials, components and/or supplies necessary for business operations. 


Responsibilities: including but not limited to - 

  • Review pricing, vendor terms, and procurement needs using MRP systems and demand forecasts.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure availability and minimize shortages or excess stock.
  • Create, process, and track purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Maintain accurate lead times and order status within the company’s ERP system.
  • Implement price changes as directed by senior management.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to optimize cost savings.
  • Run open order reports to track deliveries and address potential delays.
  • Support logistics, transportation, and warehouse operations as needed.
  • Address and resolve supplier-related issues, including non-conformances, returns, and corrective actions.
  • Reconcile invoice discrepancies with receiving and accounts payable teams.
  • Provide specifications or documentation to internal teams as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by senior management.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of purchasing experience required; 3-5 years preferred.
  • Experience in a regulated industry is a plus.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and with external suppliers.
  • Adept in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems. 
  • Ability to multitask, strong sense of urgency in resolving any issues.

Physical Demands:

  • Required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, computer controls.
  • May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., stand, bend, kneel, crouch, sit, talk, hear, and walk. 
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, ability to focus. 

Work Environment: 

  • Required to be present in the office to collaborate with management, other departments, and vendors daily.
  • Employee travel/work hours/schedule/location and/or shift are subject to change based on business needs and Management discretion.  
  • Potential to move between production operations sites/areas to complete job functions. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Pay Range:

$60,000 - $75,000 per year
