Core business hours: 5:00 am - 1:30 pm, Summer work schedule 3:30am - 12:00pm (flexibility to work overtime when required)

The Set-Up Operator is responsible for setting up automated/manual production, tape, heat tunnel, and label machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Performs preventive maintenance to ensure optimum machine performance. Reports to Production Supervisor.
Essential Duties:
- Review daily Production Schedule to ensure proper setup of all machinery.
- Ensure all MACHINE GUARDS are in place and report any issues to Supervisor.
- Ensures Tape Machines are setup properly at the beginning of each assembly, based on carton box dimensions.
- Ensure tooling is positioned, fitted, and secured properly to accommodate material/product. Troubleshoot if necessary.
- Ensure heating plate is properly aligned for even heat distribution.
- Test run to ensure set-up is functioning correctly and sealing properly, troubleshoot inaccuracies.
- Utilize small power tools to create parts when necessary using drills, cordless screwdrivers, sanders etc.
- Responsible for ensuring optimum machine performance.
- Adjust machine speed when authorized by Supervisor.
- Documents machine down time.
- Responsible for performing routine adjustments and Preventive Maintenance ‘P.M.’
- At the end of the shift ensure machine power is off including but not limited to tape machine, conveyors, air fans and air compressor.
- Responsible for adhering to Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
- Assist Material Handler, when necessary, to move finished job ticket(s) to designated location using a manual or electric pallet jack.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean work area.
- Attendance and punctuality are an essential duty.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma, GED
- Trade technical school is a plus
- Packaging and Production environment is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and General Abilities:
- Maintaining logs on set-ups with proper departmental codes.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Complete basic repairs
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a group setting.
- Ability to maintain the production pace for changeovers.
- Ability to complete routine forms
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Walking for periods of time.
- Frequent push/pull, up to 1000 lbs. using a manual or electric pallet jack.
- Standing for periods of time.
- Infrequent lifting up to 74 lbs.
- Kneeling for periods of time.
- Must be flexible to work overtime.
