Description

Overview:

CCI is looking for a motivated Engineer in Training (EI) to join our Traffic/Transportation Engineering team. This entry-level role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional eager to develop technical skills and work on a wide range of projects. The EI will support senior engineers and project managers in data collection, analysis, design, and reporting, gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of transportation engineering. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior engineers and/or project managers with the design of transportation infrastructure, including, but not limited to, roadways, sidewalks, greenways, traffic signals, signing, pavement marking, temporary traffic control, and intelligent transportation systems.
  • Perform traffic analyses for various transportation planning and traffic operations studies.
  • Perform data collection, site visits, and inspections to support project designs and evaluations.
  • Support the preparation of reports, project documentation, and permit applications.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Engineer in Training (EI) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Foundational knowledge of transportation engineering principles and methods.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Work onsite in our Knoxville office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship or co-op experience in transportation engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation or similar design software.
  • Familiarity with traffic analysis software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word.
