Work Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Workdays: Monday – Friday Location: 1801 W Cesar E. Chavez Blvd., San Antonio, TX, 78207

Summary:

The Volunteer and Congregate Meal Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for contributing towards the growth of active volunteer participation, recruitment of new volunteers and the identification and procurement of new volunteer opportunities in Bexar County through dedicated community outreach, as well as coordinating the delivery and serving of daily meals for elderly citizens in a Senior Center setting. Program Coordinator will also maintain incoming volunteer data and follow file guidelines as outlined by the Senior Director and conduct Nutrition Risk Assessments and Consumer Needs Evaluations in support of nutrition program requirements, while actively participating in process improvement plans as it pertains to volunteer and station recruitment, retention, recognition, and events.

Position Responsibilities:

  • *Visiting meal sites on a weekly basis to conduct quality assurance
  • Train and provide technical assistance to volunteers
  • Work with Parish staff and volunteers to ensure site compliance and monitoring reporting for reimbursements
  • *Meet/exceed recruitment goals for volunteers and stations as outlined by the Senior Director
  • *Ensure volunteer assignments are consistent with the interests and abilities of the senior volunteers as well comply with the requirements of agency guidelines and city guidelines (if applicable) 
  • *Compile and maintain data directly related to the growth of Senior Services and for the purposes of funding sources
  • *Ensures timely submission of required monthly data from station coordinators to meet deadlines
  • *Direct, oversee and supervise the delivery and serving of hot meals to site participants based on center allotments  
  • *Complete Nutritional Risk Assessments and Consumer Needs Evaluations to identify participants’ risk of malnutrition and dietary deficiencies
  • *Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports related to reimbursement requests, attendance, supplies, daily meal counts, daily menus, storeroom issues, vendor ordering and home delivered meals
  • Work occasional nights/weekends to attend community outreach events for the program and or agency

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required) or 3+ years related work experience (Communications, Community Wellness,      volunteer recruitment, or event planning)
  • At least one year of experience working  with volunteers
  • Experience in recruitment, nonprofit, and/or networking preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Strong public speaking and community outreach skills preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation and clean driving record
  • First aid and CPR certification preferred

Minimum Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Strong written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail  
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) 
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities 
  • Proven ability to accept feedback from Senior Director, and be able to adapt approach with volunteers and stations as needed   
  • Must cooperate as a team member and demonstrate ability to produce in a results driven environment 
  • Must be able to handle various projects simultaneously and meet multiple deadlines
  • Must be able to prioritize effectively
  • Must handle pressure well 

  

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements for the position includes 80% local and 5% overnight

Driving Requirements:

· Must be at least 21 years old

· Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record 

· Have valid vehicle liability insurance
