Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Loan Processing Support Specialist to ensure the seamless processing of residential loans from application through approval and closing. This role involves performing pre-funding and post-closing reviews, verifying loan collateral, and adhering to both bank and investor documentation policies and guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of loan processing, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to maintaining accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the loan processing team, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all loan requests.
- Input all residential loan files into the computer system, prepare and mail required disclosures, and order necessary documents (credit reports, VOE’s, VOD’s, and VOM’s).
- Pre-underwrite loan files by collecting and verifying all required documentation and explanations from borrowers before submitting to underwriting.
- Forward loan files to investors for approval and follow up on investor rate lock approval as needed.
- Ensure the timely and accurate booking and funding of all loans, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements.
- Address documentation exceptions and follow up on any deficiencies to resolve them promptly.
- Provide client service and support to the lending staff, assisting with inquiries and maintaining smooth communication across departments.
- Conduct post-closing reviews to ensure that loan files meet all documentation and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and track records for pending documentation and exceptions, following up on any discrepancies.
- Respond to inquiries from the public and internal staff about eligibility, terms, and conditions of various residential loan programs.
- Assist the Residential Closer in preparing loan packages for closing when required.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies, procedures, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Loan Processing team.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of banking regulations, policies, and procedures related to loan processing.
- General understanding of loan documentation and post-closing reviews.
- Familiarity with collateral control, loan servicing requirements, compliance, and secondary markets.
- Basic knowledge of compliance regulations such as RESPA, Fair Lending, and HMDA.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
- Ability to apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound judgment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills, particularly on the phone, with the ability to provide courteous and professional assistance.
- Proficient in data entry with experience using software programs such as DNA, CoreLogic, Encompass, and Velocity.
- Ability to work independently and display initiative, taking responsibility for tasks and decisions.
- Successful completion of in-house or approved training programs is preferred.
