Job Summary:

The Child and Adolescent Therapist provides culturally responsive, trauma-informed mental health services to children, adolescents, and their families within an integrated care setting. This position focuses on addressing emotional, behavioral, and developmental concerns, supporting families, and working collaboratively with the primary care and behavioral health teams to deliver holistic care. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy for children and adolescents presenting with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, behavioral challenges, chronic illness, substance use, health behavior change, and adjustment issues using evidence-based practices.  
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including biopsychosocial and diagnostic evaluations, tailored to the developmental stage of the client. 
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on evidence-based practices, such as CBT, TF-CBT, play therapy, and family systems approaches. 
  • Collaborate closely with primary care providers, case managers, school staff, other team members, and community resources to ensure coordinated, wraparound care. 
  • Participate in regular interdisciplinary team meetings to align mental and physical health strategies. 
  • Deliver brief, targeted interventions in alignment with integrated care principles. 
  • Participate in care team meetings to provide insights on behavioral health and its impact on physical health. 
  • Consult with medical providers about patient needs and provide education to enhance their understanding of behavioral health conditions 
  • Engage caregivers in the treatment process to strengthen parenting strategies, communication, and family functioning. 
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) as described in the provider expectations document. 
  • Ensure compliance with MCHCC policies, state and federal regulations, and professional ethical standards. 
  • Complete required reporting for grants or program evaluation as necessary. 
  • Other duties that support our shared work, as assigned 
Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities:

Trauma Informed Care approach preferred; training supported 

Motivational Interviewing training preferred; training supported  

Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills  

Strong commitment to health equity and addressing social determinants of health. 

Ability to establish rapport with children and adolescents using age-appropriate, engaging techniques. 

Cultural humility and sensitivity to the unique needs of individuals from marginalized communities. 

Flexibility to adapt interventions within a fast-paced, integrated care model. 


Education and Experience:

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field. 

Licensed or license-eligible in Indiana (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LP) 

Specialized training or experience in child and adolescent therapy required 

BLS required 

Strong understanding of evidence-based interventions for diverse populations 

Commitment to serving underserved and marginalized populations 

Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Haitian Creole) are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations 


Requirements:

Ability to perform prolonged periods of time in front of a computer 

Ability to move between patient care spaces
