We have an immediate, FT opening for a CDL B (or A) Driver who has heavy equipment experience specifically boom operator who would like to build a career serving our customers in Albany, NY. 


SUMMARY:

The experienced, certified Boom Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a boom truck to load, transport, deliver and unload exterior building products which includes roofing materials, and other construction supplies, to residential and commercial job sites in hard to reach areas such as rooftops with precision. This role involves ensuring timely deliveries, proper loading and unloading material while adhering to safety regulations and company policies. This role requires excellent driving skills, adherence to traffic laws, excellent communication, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, front-end loaders, boom trucks, cranes, or other machinery to move, load and unload materials.
  • Safely operate company vehicles to transport and pick up products at designated locations.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Operate the boom crane to load, transport, and unload building products safely and efficiently at job sites.
  • Deliver materials to hard-to-reach areas, such as rooftops with precision.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and report any issues.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized vehicle interior.
  • Use (POD) proof of delivery to take pictures of job sites prior to making a delivery
  • Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, management and other team members.
  • Provide exceptional customer service – which includes calling ahead to the customer that you intend on making a delivery to.
  • Follow routes and schedules accurately and promptly.
  • Load material onto the truck for the specific deliveries within a designated route. Could have multiple trips from the branch depending on the specific routes for the day.
  • Securely load building materials onto the truck using proper techniques to prevent damage during transit.
  • Safely unload and place materials according to customer or site specifications.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and maintain accurate trip records.
  • Respond to emergencies or unexpected situations calmly and efficiently, which includes contacting your manager.
  • Work in the warehouse as needed to put away returns, stocking bays, helping walk-in customers to provide them with recently purchased product. Receiving product and checking it in appropriately, and cleaning.
  • Safely driving delivery vehicle to a customer jobsite. Unloading materials at the jobsite, in most circumstances, unassisted. Driver must ensure that the materials are protected from any inclement weather.
  • Driver may be required to collect payment for goods if necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

DRUG TESTING REQUIREMENTS:

All applicants must submit to a pre-employment drug screening and physical. Any offer of employment will be conditional on passing these exams.

In addition, all those hired will be subject to additional drug testing as outlined by The Erie Materials, Inc. Drug-free Workplace Policy.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability

to communicate effectively with customers and other employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractures, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with

problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Class A or Class B New York State Commercial Drivers License.

Hazardous Materials endorsement.

Air Brakes endorsement.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. Thus, a driver may encounter warm, humid conditions to extremely cold conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to low.
