Job Description

The position includes duties as classroom teacher including Advanced Placement classes, Computer Science curriculum owner and active contributor to the overall growth of students and the school. Will perform all other day-to-day duties as a full-time faculty member at Incarnate Word Academy.


Schedule

7:30 – 3:45 Monday to Friday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach five (5) sections of computer science including, two AP courses Computer Science A and Principles, two Intro to Computer Science, and two Electives (one each semester).
  • Assist the Technology Director in supporting student and staff hardware and software needs along with running the AV board during Student assemblies.
  • Actively access professional development materials and evolve/improve curriculum.
  • Take on responsibilities beyond typical classroom duties.
  • Assume normal duties required of all faculty members as outlined in the employment contract.
  • Live the Incarnate Word Academy leadership identity and principles as a role model to students.
  • Exhibit a growth mindset and continually improves the way he or she operates.
  • Master diverse teaching styles and thoughtfully selects the appropriate teaching style for the material and students.
  • Often work as a co-learner in the classroom, allowing for student-led questioning and discussion and student-developed assignments.
  • Provide weekly lesson plans that align curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and integrate technology into the curriculum.
  • Use instructional time efficiently and effectively.
  • Evaluate student progress effectively, keeping records and reports required by the school.
  • Build appropriate and professional mentorship relationships with students.


Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree.
  • Completion of 12 credit hours in education courses or a valid state teaching certificate.
  • Passionate about teaching in an environment of young women.
  • Demonstrated use of classroom technology and experience using it as a tool for learning (Microsoft products, Adobe Creative Cloud, iPad apps, Google apps and Interactive Whiteboards).
  • Prior teaching experience at middle school, high school, or college level.
