Job Summary: 

Responsible for safely and efficiently transporting patients to and from healthcare facilities, insuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.  Non-clinical patient transporter plays a vital role in enhancing the patient’s experience by providing a high level of care and support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Safely and efficiently transport patients from front door of pickup address to front door of various diagnostic or treatment areas.
  • Ensure the comfort and well-being of patients during transportation, addressing their concerns and providing reassurance when needed.
  • Assist patients with mobility challenges, such as those using wheelchairs, or other mobility aids.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with patients, their families, and healthcare staff to coordinate patient transportation needs effectively.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures while transporting patients, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on patient transportation equipment to ensure it is in safe and working condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient transports, including patient information, destination, and time of transportation.
  • Be prepared to respond to emergency situations and follow established protocols to ensure patient safety during crises.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff to ensure the smooth flow of patient transport services.
  • Uphold a professional demeanor and always maintain patient confidentiality.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As assigned.

Risk Management/Quality Management/Safety: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:     

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Compassion and a strong commitment to patient care.
  • Physical move patients when necessary.
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare safety and infection control procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Clean Driving Record 

Must be willing to obtain:

  • Basic first aid and CPR certification. 
  • Passenger Assist
  • Wheelchair secure 

ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: 

The role involves a combination of standing, walking, and physically assisting patients.  May require work in a hospital, clinic, or long-term care facility with exposure to a healthcare environment

$15.00 - $18.00 HR DOE
