Scope of Position: Under the Program Director's supervision, the Assistant Program Director oversees client service delivery, promotes empowerment, and fosters positive relationships with the community. They provide individual counseling, crisis intervention, and ensure building safety and maintenance. The Assistant Program Director upholds operational functions and, in the Program Director's absence, assumes all managerial responsibilities under the Area Director's supervision.


Essential Position Functions:

  • Supervise staff providing direct client care, including admissions, operations, and discharge.
  • Ensure program readiness for audits. Assist the Program Director with monthly data collection on services, census, attendance, incidents, and outcomes.
  • Be available 24/7 for crisis intervention. Attend meetings and work nights/weekends as needed.
  • Assist Program Director with personnel activities: hiring, scheduling, policy development, training, evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Complete administrative duties: data entry, performance monitoring, petty cash management, and staff attendance tracking.
  • Assess building maintenance needs and work with maintenance staff for repairs. Manage facility operations, including purchasing.
  • Work with the Program Director and Property Management to ensure compliance.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervision, and required training.
  • Work with clients, families, and staff respectfully and consider cultural differences.
  • Conduct building inspections on multiple floors and provide client escorts using public transportation.
  • Ensure staff training on crisis intervention, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care. Model effective, client-centered interactions.
  • Report serious incidents or sensitive situations immediately to supervisors.


Requirements
  • Master’s Degree preferred, or Bachelor’s Degree with relevant experience, including supervisory experience. Supervision hours are provided for clinical licensure.
  • Experience working with individuals who have histories of homelessness, mental health diagnoses, and/or justice involvement.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and managing trauma-triggered behavior.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Stress-resistant, flexible, and able to work well as a team player.
  • Open to feedback and creative problem-solving.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to perform CPR, First Aid, AED, CPI, and Naloxone administration.
  • Preferred knowledge of AWARDS system.
