Office Manager/Bookkeeper
Description

Church of the Annunciation in Kearney, MO is seeking a full time Office Manager/Bookkeeper. This position typically performs a significant amount of accounting work in addition to administrative duties. This position reports to the Pastor and requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with accounting systems.

  

Essential Duties: 


The candidate can expect appropriate mentorship to acclimate to the following responsibilities:

  • Manage and prepare financial reports and statements including but not limited to monthly/quarterly financial reports and end-of-year fiscal reports.
  • Meet quarterly with Finance Council and Pastor to review finances.
  • Process all accounts payable in a timely manner utilizing QuickBooks.
  • Oversee Annunciation Community Center rentals and contract agreements.
  • Maintain Vendor records.
  • Act as liaison between parish and the diocese in completing and providing annual reports including Annual budget and year-end report, SEC reports, and Spirituality reports.
  • Manage human resources functions, including processing payroll, recruiting, onboarding and offboarding.
  • Maintain parish offering system, including online giving and contribution records.
  • Work to implement and manage strategies/policies for security, safety, and facility management ensuring compliance with Diocesan and government policy.
  • Complete routine equipment maintenance and oversee maintenance and purchasing of equipment, including computers.
  • Meet with individuals in need of financial assistance to determine eligibility and process any needed documents.
  • Update and publish weekly bulletin.
  • Maintain church, office and Annunciation Community Center calendars.
  • Manage parish communications including phone, mail, email, and website.
  • Other administrative tasks that may be assigned. 

  

Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable in accounting principles, budgeting, general ledger.
  • Intermediate skills in general ledger systems and Excel.
  • Proficient skills or ability to learn Microsoft Office, Website management, and QuickBooks or other accounting software experience.
  • Strong ability to learn software quickly.
  • Handles confidential information with integrity.  
  • Maintains a courteous and professional manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - highly collaborative and an effective team member.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieve results with little oversight.
  • Familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry is an asset.
