Greenville University is seeking an innovative scholar to serve as a full-time tenure-track assistant or associate professor in Elementary Education in the School of Education to start in August 2024. The successful candidate will provide an experiential learning environment that is innovative and relevant. The selected candidate must provide evidence of a vibrant Christian faith, clearly understand and internalize the mission of Greenville University, and articulate the value of Christian higher education.


Greenville University is seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to fill the position of Professor of Elementary Education in the School of Education. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, a strong background in elementary education, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. The professor will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, conducting research, and contributing to the academic and professional development of students.


Key Responsibilities:


Teaching and Curriculum Development:

  • Develop and deliver courses in elementary education based on current pedagogical practices and research.
  • Design and update curriculum content to meet accreditation standards and align with the School of Education's goals.
  • Implement innovative teaching methods and technology to enhance student learning experiences.


Student Advising and Mentorship:

  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in elementary education.
  • Guide students in their academic and professional development, offering support and encouragement.


Research and Scholarship:

  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and conference presentations, to contribute to the field of elementary education.
  • Stay current with developments in educational theory, policy, and practice.


Service and Collaboration:

  • Participate in departmental and university committees and contribute to the overall governance of the School of Education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on initiatives related to curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation.


Community Engagement:

  • Establish connections with local schools, educational organizations, and community partners to facilitate student teaching placements and collaborative projects.


Professional Development:

  • Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness and stay informed about advancements in education.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in Elementary Education or a related field.
  • Prior teaching experience in the field of elementary education in the k-12 setting.
  • Prior teaching experience in elementary education at the university level.
  • Strong research record or commitment to scholarly activities.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in elementary education.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.

Salary Band: $29,250-$88,000/ Annually. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions and department budget.
