The successful candidate will provide an experiential learning environment that is innovative and relevant. The selected candidate must provide evidence of a vibrant Christian faith, clearly understand and internalize the mission of Greenville University, and articulate the value of Christian higher education.
Greenville University is seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to fill the position of Professor of Elementary Education in the School of Education. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, a strong background in elementary education, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. The professor will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, conducting research, and contributing to the academic and professional development of students.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Development:
- Develop and deliver courses in elementary education based on current pedagogical practices and research.
- Design and update curriculum content to meet accreditation standards and align with the School of Education's goals.
- Implement innovative teaching methods and technology to enhance student learning experiences.
Student Advising and Mentorship:
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in elementary education.
- Guide students in their academic and professional development, offering support and encouragement.
Research and Scholarship:
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and conference presentations, to contribute to the field of elementary education.
- Stay current with developments in educational theory, policy, and practice.
Service and Collaboration:
- Participate in departmental and university committees and contribute to the overall governance of the School of Education.
- Collaborate with colleagues on initiatives related to curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation.
Community Engagement:
- Establish connections with local schools, educational organizations, and community partners to facilitate student teaching placements and collaborative projects.
Professional Development:
- Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness and stay informed about advancements in education.
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in Elementary Education or a related field.
- Prior teaching experience in the field of elementary education in the k-12 setting.
- Prior teaching experience in elementary education at the university level.
- Strong research record or commitment to scholarly activities.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in elementary education.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.

Salary Band: $29,250-$88,000/ Annually. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions and department budget.
