Job Summary & Essential Functions

The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position. The Senior Financial Analyst, under the supervision of the Director of Finance, is responsible for gathering data, building financial models, and analyzing financial performance to provide insights and forecasts that support strategic decision-making within a company, including tasks like budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and creating reports for senior management to guide operational and investment choices.  This position is on site in Irvine, CA and not remote.


Key Responsibilities

• Financial Modeling:

Constructing and maintaining complex financial models to project future revenue, expenses, and profitability based on various scenarios. 

• Budgeting:

Collaborating with various departments and Service Centers to develop annual budgets, tracking spending against budget, and identifying variances. 

• Forecasting:

Creating regular financial forecasts to predict future performance, considering market trends and business initiatives. 

• Performance Analysis:

Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing trends, and identifying areas for improvement. 

• Reporting:

Preparing comprehensive financial reports for senior management, including detailed analysis and insights on key metrics. 

• Data Gathering and Analysis:

Collecting data from various sources, cleaning and validating it, and utilizing analytical tools to extract meaningful insights. 

• Strategic Planning:

Supporting the development of long-term strategic plans by providing financial analysis and projections. 

• Cost Management:

Identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and working with departments to optimize expenses. 

• Stakeholder Communication:

Presenting financial information and insights to stakeholders, including senior management and business leaders

  • Computer knowledge and skills, i.e., MS Office Suite – Word, Power Point and Advance Excel skills are required. Prior experience with MS Dynamics, Salesforce, Power BI or Power Query a plus.
  • Collaborative with a continuous improvement outlook.
  • Initiative-taking and able to work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated hands-on approach and an ability to build and maintain strong effective business relationships in a team-based environment.
  • Leadership skills, people management, meeting facilitation and customer support.

  • Flexible with high energy, able to manage multiple tasks smoothly.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in a situation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Accounting & Finance systems, benefits programs, and related regulations.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Financial modeling expertise, proficiency in building and manipulating financial models using spreadsheets.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining data accuracy and compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications
 To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product, or industry knowledge plus any certifications to be considered.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5+ yrs experience working in an Accounting and/or Finance setting.
  • Big 6 Public Accounting or Fortune 1000 Experience a plus
  • Deep knowledge of Accounting and Finance and strong business acumen
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
