Job Summary:  

The General Manager has   P&L responsibility and is primarily responsible for getting the right   people doing the right things with clear accountabilities and metrics. Service responsibilities include developing a culture where service   representatives consistently improve quality of service, product availability   and inventory management, and grow business relationships. Operational   responsibilities include developing a culture of continuous improvement to meet production and financial objectives, improve safety performance, and   operate clean and orderly facilities. Success factors include Strong Leadership Skills, Self-Motivation, and Discipline.


Essential Functions:

  • Lead 80+ full-time associates operating out of locations in Cleburne, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio Texas with revenues of > $10M
  • Manage a 68,000 square foot facility that processes 150,000+ pounds of healthcare textiles each week
  • Manage field service operations including 15+ daily routes that provide service to more than 1,000 customers each week across the state of Texas.  
  • Leads service and operations to high and sustained standards of performance 
  • Creates a high-performing and highly engaged culture that attracts and retains the best people
  • Hires, on-boards, and develops talent in key positions
  • Sets clear and challenging expectations, regularly assesses performance, and holds others accountable to achieve objectives
  • Ensures collaboration and commitment across all functions, particularly between Operations and Service, and Service and Sales
  • Mentors and coaches staff using a supportive and consultative approach
  • Creates a learning environment that helps others to realize their highest potential by challenging them to stretch their capabilities
  • Ensures on-time delivery of production requirements while driving costs out of the system through productivity and process improvements
  • Develops and implements plans to foster the growth of existing accounts
  • Leverages profitability data when negotiating customer renewals and adjusts customer offerings to enhance performance
  • Creates a culture of continuous improvement and effectively implements conditioning disciplines to sustain results and improve the readiness of the workforce for   additional challenge
  • Takes ownership of key metrics including associate engagement, customer loyalty, financial performance, and safety
  • P&L responsibility includes revenues, payroll, merchandise costs, and other expenses
  • Reports to the Vice President of Operations and direct reports include two Regional Service Directors, Cleburne Plant Manager, Continuous Improvement Manager and Service Coordinator
  • Up to 50% regional travel is required
Requirements

 Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven track record of serving in a general management and/or operations leadership role for a growing business with P&L responsibility and a large group of associates
  • Direct line leadership responsibility for major functions including multi-shift plant production/maintenance and field service operations
  • Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to build strong teams and credibility gained through significant results and relationship building with customers and colleagues 
  • Demonstrated ability to create and sustain a culture of continuous improvement. Formal continuous improvement experience strongly preferred. 
  • Customer focused with the proven ability to represent the Company with external customers as needed
  • Experience in textile laundering and/or medical field a plus
  • A bachelor’s degree or significant relevant experience required
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus

Physical Requirements:  

  • The ability to stand, sit and/or walk repeatedly throughout most of the workday
  • When in the plant, subject to the outside environment with possible exposure to extreme temperatures (heat, cold, humidity, etc.)
  • Normal lifting of up to 50 pounds is possible
  • Mobility is necessary in order to perform assigned functions
  • Noise level is moderate to heavy as the work area is a production environment
  • Position requires the ability to occasionally work different shifts to monitor plant performance
  • Personal protective equipment is available and will be required to be worn as the situation dictates


Required Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and five or more years’ experience serving in a General Manager, Service Manager and/or Operations   Manager role for a growing business with full responsibility for P&L
  • Demonstrated ability to create and sustain a continuous improvement culture (e.g. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma). Six Sigma, Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred
  • Direct line leadership responsibility
