Department: Nursing - Emergency Department
Status Hours: Full-time, 72 hours bi-weekly
Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Includes: Every 3rd weekend and 2 holidays per year

Job Summary:
The Emergency Department (ED) Staff Nurse, under general direction and in accordance with hospital standards and policies, is responsible for coordinating and evaluating nursing care for an assigned number of acute care patients. This role requires performing a variety of professional nursing duties, including supervision of the unit team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate good judgment, innovation, discretion, and effective communication skills. Comfort with assertiveness, self-growth, and exploration of one's behavior is key.


This position demands physical capability to perform activities outlined on the credentialing inventory. It requires flexibility to adapt to staffing changes dictated by patient care needs. All practices must align with accepted Standards of Practice and Ethics.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, evaluate, and deliver nursing care for acute care patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Supervise members of the unit team.
  • Adhere to hospital standards, policies, and protocols.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adjust to varying staffing requirements based on patient care needs.
  • Ensure all nursing care is provided in accordance with accepted Standards of Practice and Ethics.

Requirements
  • Current RN license from the State of Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to provide nursing care requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences.
  • Must maintain competency with a minimum of 24 Continuing Education Credits (CNE) within each two-year license renewal period, including two pediatric-related CEUs.
