Faith Formation Coordinator
Description

Church of the Annunciation in Kearney, MO is a small to medium sized parish about 30 minutes north of Kansas City seeking to hire a part time Parish Faith Formation Coordinator. In collaboration with the diocesan plan for “The Way”, this faith-filled individual sets volunteers in motion to support the growth of the parish through the transformation of adults who in turn ignite the faith of our youth. 


Essential Duties:

  • Overseeing OCIA & Baptism preparation with volunteer catechists
  • Assisting the priest with Marriage preparation as needed
  • Evaluating and managing effective curriculum for Adult Faith and Children/Youth faith formation classes
  • Recruiting and forming catechists for children/youth/adult faith formation classes.
  • Serving as the Safe Environment Coordinator.
  • Following the diocesan guidelines to develop parents as the primary educators of the faith.
  • Developing enticing youth opportunities after Confirmation to continue faith formation.
  • Work in conjunction with the Liturgist, using Mass ministries as a part of faith formation for youth and adults.
  • Creating inspiring classroom settings and manage the environment for the needs of the children and adults
  • Coordinate Outreach opportunities as a part of faith formation: hospitality in parish, assisting the needy outside the parish
  • Facilitating effective registration and collection of fees for students each fall, including records needed for each sacrament.
  • Updating directory information for all students registered in the program.
  • Communicating regularly with parents with patience and needed support and motivation.
  • Supervise planning and implementation of Vacation Bible School.
  • Maintaining the appropriate budget for the program.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Practicing Catholic with ethical standards, personal integrity, and conduct consistent with the morals and teachings of the Catholic Church. 
  • Highly motivated to grow in faith and to inspire that journey in others.
  • Self-directed and able to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to recruit and train ongoing volunteer base.
  • Basic Microsoft Word and Excel experience.
