History:
Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20 and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.
To be successful as a head cook, you should have the creativity to develop new recipes and the leadership skills to ensure that your team understands what is required of them. An excellent head cook should be able to handle multiple duties simultaneously and should be extremely organized. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the cooking line and serving line. This individual must be able to be creative in menu writing and stay up to date with current culinary trends. Must be able to accurately efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups de jour, and all other food products prior to cooking. Also be able to perform other duties around the kitchen as assign by The Nutrition Services Director. Able to train and development cooks and prep cooks. Takes inventory of all areas of the kitchen that holds and stores food products. Perform monthly trainings with the cook staff.
Education:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Licenses/Certificates:
- Must have a Serv Safe Food Handlers Certification prior or within 30 days of hire.
Experience:
- One (1) year experience as a Cook or (1) year in a hospital setting.
- Bilingual preferred but not required

Physical Requirements
High potential for exposure to blood and body fluids. Personal protective equipment required for at-risk procedures. Exposure to risk in the form of disease, radiation, and disoriented and/or combative patients. May be requested to be on standby and work extended shifts in situations which are considered emergent.
