Summary:
This position is responsible for preparing parts for painting by masking off areas that should not be coated.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Read and interpret work orders and engineering drawings to determine masking requirements.
- Use various masking materials, such as tape, paper, and plugs, to cover surfaces and components that should not be coated.
- Apply masking materials using appropriate techniques to ensure precise coverage.
- Inspect masked parts to ensure that all required areas are properly covered and protected.
- Remove masking materials after painting is complete, ensuring that no residue is left behind.
- Clean and maintain masking equipment and tools.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and quality standards.
- Maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge, skills, and abilities):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in masking or painting in a manufacturing or automotive environment preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and techniques.
- Demonstrated high level of mechanical hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to use all necessary inspection tools.
- Positive attitude, and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to maintain a high concentration level while doing repetitive work.
