Summary:
The Math Interventionist at The Academy provides targeted instructional support to students who require additional assistance in mathematics. This role includes leading small, focused intervention groups, co-teaching with classroom teachers, and supporting students through data-driven instructional strategies. In addition to intervention work, this position may include teaching math classes such as Math 180, and potentially overseeing credit recovery courses. The Math Interventionist collaborates with teachers, families, and support staff to enhance student achievement and promote equitable access to core math instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Intervention and Academic Support
- Provide targeted, small-group math intervention for students identified through Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
- Use research-based instructional strategies to address learning gaps and accelerate student progress.
- Develop and implement intervention plans based on data from formative and summative assessments.
- Regularly track and report student progress to teachers, administration, and families.
Math Instruction
- Teach assigned math courses, ensuring alignment with state standards and school curriculum.
- Differentiate instruction to support a diverse range of learners, including students needing intervention and advanced students.
- Implement engaging, student-centered instructional strategies to foster mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Credit Recovery and Additional Support
- Provide instructional support for students enrolled in math credit recovery courses, ensuring they meet learning objectives and course requirements.
- Collaborate with counselors and administrators to identify students in need of credit recovery and develop individualized learning plans.
Collaboration and Professional Development
- Work closely with math teachers to align intervention strategies with core instruction.
- Co-teach or push into classrooms to support students in learning grade-level math content.
- Serve as a resource for teachers by providing professional development on best practices in math intervention and differentiation.
- Attend MTSS meetings and assist in developing data-informed intervention strategies.
Data Collection and Progress Monitoring
- Utilize assessment tools to identify students in need of intervention and measure the impact of instructional support.
- Adjust intervention strategies based on student progress and data analysis.
- Maintain organized records of student performance and communicate findings with stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in school-wide initiatives and collaborate with staff to support student success.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
- Attend staff meetings and professional learning sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience teaching secondary math and/or providing math interventions preferred
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid Colorado teaching license with a math endorsement preferred.
- Criminal background check required.Criminal background check required for hire.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of math pedagogy, intervention strategies, and differentiated instruction.
- Ability to analyze student data to drive instructional decisions.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers, staff, and families.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including intervention, instruction, and credit recovery support.
- Knowledge of MTSS, progress monitoring tools, and research-based intervention methods.
