STU Student Summer Recreation Assistant
Description

Summary: The Student Summer Recreation Assistant will provide primary supervision for the Keuka College waterfront area (Point Neamo). Assistant will go through training a week before the beach opens. IMPORTANT. The Assistant is NOT a lifeguard. Assistant will report all emergencies to campus safety and Recreation Director. The main responsibility is over watch of the swimming area. Supervision extends to all summer guests, as well as boating patrons. 


 Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage and provide daily supervision of the beach, swimming area, and boathouse.
  • Complete checklist of safety precautions prior to beach opening. 
  • Occasionally set up and prepare recreational equipment for conferences and parties.
  • Check the swimming area for any dangerous or hazardous materials.
  • Distribute brochures to every guest that comes down to the beach. 
  • Attend all training meetings. 
  • Report all problems, concerns, or hazards directly to the Recreation Director.
  • Working in tandem with one other individual to successfully allow boating and swimming.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management. 


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have time management flexibility (in case of events) and be able to sustain working 12pm-5pm daily.
  • First Aid & CPR/AED Certified, preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Evening and weekend hours required. 
  • Ability to swim.
  • Ability to move around on uneven terrain. 
  • Ability to lift 50 or more pounds.

Salary Description
15.50 per hour
