Director of Nursing, RN
Description

This position requires an extensive knowledge of the long-term care industry, specific to the nursing profession. Reporting to the Administrator. The DON is responsible for State and Federal Regulation compliance, campus wide preparedness for State survey, care quality outcomes and satisfaction ratings for residents and services provided by Bayley Access and Bayley Living. Promotes and supports the overall philosophy and objectives of the Sisters of Charity Senior Care Corporation. Oversees the ADON positions.

  • Responsible for the general morale of all staff. Provides a quality work environment through teaming principles, effective team leadership, and a demonstrated positive attitude.
  • Proactive in the development, maintenance, and updating of policies and procedures governing day-to-day departmental functions and services.
  • Responsible for nursing, home services and scheduling departments. Participates in the hiring, discipline, career/professional development, and performance review process.
  • Directs, facilitates, and evaluates short term and long-range campus wide planning objectives. Develops and submits annual budgets for approval. Responsible for maintaining budget expectations and working collaboratively with Finance Department.
  • Responsible for facility licensing, Medicare and Medicaid certification. Ensures compliance with all Federal and State requirements.
  • Directs overall delivery of quality care to residents and promotes "continuous improvement" techniques. Responsible to oversee data submission regarding care outcomes to appropriate entities.  
  • Serves as a member of Mission Integration Committee and other Board Advisory Committees as needed. Participates in Ethics Committee meetings, Medical Director meetings and any other committee or task force as assigned.
  • Responsible for provider medical services e.g., consultants, specialists, pharmacy etc. Ensures provider services are properly licensed and provide the highest quality service at a competitive price. Responsible for working collaboratively with Medical Director 
  • Promotes a campus wide philosophy in harmony with the mission and core values of the Sisters of Charity Senior Care Corporation.  
  • Remains current through industry specific professional organizations, publications, journals, and seminar attendance.
  • Monitors and responsible for educational and license requirements of State tested nurse aides and professional staff including nurse aide workshops.   
  • Interacts with department heads campus wide.


Requirements

Educational Attainment • Associates degree in nursing from an accredited college. • Gerontology certification 

  • Bachelors Degree

Licensure/Certification • Must possess a current RN License in the State of Ohio 

Specialized Knowledge/Skills • Strong knowledge of Management practices and Ohio State regulations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Federal regulations, Medicare and Medicaid certification.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

Kind & Length of Experience • Five years of experience in Long-Term Care

  • Three or more years supervisory experience
