Are you wanting to make a difference?   We are pleased to extend an invitation to join our Medical Clinic team at Beautiful Cass Lake Indian Health Services in Cass Lake, Minnesota as a Physician. We are seeking a qualified Full-Time Contract/Locum MD or DO for our IHS Family Medical Clinic. Your professional skills and commitment to patient care will significantly contribute to providing life-saving treatment during urgent medical situations.


Position Overview:

• Shift Schedule: This role involves 8-hour shifts from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays.  

• Contract is offered for up to a 1-year contract, with potential options for extension.  

• 2-3 years of experience in Family Practice or Internal Medicine as an MD  

  • Experience in an IHS facility is preferred  

  • Prior Locum Tenens experience is advantageous  

  • Board certification is required  

  • Can work on any valid U.S. medical license  

  • Experience in both adult and pediatric care is necessary

Responsibilities of the Family Practice Physician:  

• Conduct comprehensive examinations and accurately diagnose the health-related conditions of individuals seeking care.  

• Make referrals for additional consultation as appropriate.  

• Prescribe and execute therapies in accordance with clinical privileges.  

• Provide education to patients regarding their health conditions and promote preventive healthcare measures.  

• Maintain detailed records of patient interactions in accordance with established protocols and complete all necessary medical documentation.  

• Uphold clinical privileges granted by the facility's governing body or the Service Unit Credentials Committee.  

• Actively participate in medical staff functions, including quality assurance activities and organizational meetings.  

• Administer resuscitation and perform general physical and neurological examinations, as well as order laboratory tests and imaging studies when required.  

• Support the ongoing education and training of Indian Health Service and tribal staff as requested.  

• Deliver medical care and public health services across various community settings, including homes, schools, and clinics, within the Service Unit.

Prairie Band, LLC operates under Title 22: Employment Code of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. This position is classified as a Tier 2 role, and preference will be given to individuals as stipulated in Section 22-2-4(B).

Requirements


  • Completion of a (3) year residency program in a primary care specialty such as Family Practice, Pediatrics or Internal Medicine.
  • Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Must be Board Eligible or Certified, Board certification in Family Medicine 
  • Must have current BLS, Basic Life Support certification
  • Certification of Education - copy of diploma or transcripts
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program 
  • DEA license and eligibility to prescribe medication 
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in family practice
  • may require a current drivers license
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong  diagnostic, clinical, organizational and time-management skills 
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Must be a US citizen living primarily in the United States
  • Willingness to comply with all state and federal regulations regarding medical practice 
  • must be willing to undergo a federal background check
