Communications Student Assistant
Description

Help ensure consistency of The Association of Former Students brand and messaging by providing support to the Assistant Vice President for Communications and the Communications team.


DUTIES

  • Researches and compiles information for Texas Aggie Magazine, AggieNews newsletter, social media, AggieNetwork.com and other publications.
  • Updates and maintains archives and databases related to the publications.
  • Monitors departmental email accounts.
  • Assists in proofreading content for Association publications.
  • Monitors and posts on social media accounts that target incoming A&M classes.
  • If student has sufficient writing, reporting, photography, and/or multimedia production skills, assists in story development and production. 
  • Provides basic administrative support and customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned/requested.

Participates and provides input on various Association-wide activities which may include:

  • Actively contributing to efforts to achieve donor growth goal of 100K by 2020.
  • Providing on-site event support for Board and Leadership Council Meetings.
  • Participation on internal event and task committees.
  • Participation in Association events including, but not limited to, TNT, Ring Delivery, Reunions, Distinguished Alumni Gala and Game Day events, as needed.   
  • Representing The Association as needed at events.

Acts as an ambassador for The Association by meeting Team Expectations; supporting The Association’s fundraising efforts; and fostering relationships with former students, current students, parents, faculty, staff and friends of Texas A&M. occasional other duties as assigned. 



Requirements

EDUCATION

Required: Current student at Texas A&M University


EXPERIENCE

Required: Experience with Microsoft Office programs, such as Outlook, Word, and Excel. 

Working knowledge of standard equipment.


SKILLS

Required: Must have strong writing skills, along with friendly, customer-focused attitude, and must be organized and detail-oriented.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Required: Ability to operate a keyboard, telephone and camera. Frequent use of a video terminal.


OTHER

Required: Excellent writing and editing skills. Photography skills are helpful.  Current Texas driver’s license required.
