Job Purpose
Water is one of Colorado’s most pressing concerns, and Resource Central’s Garden In A Box program is leading the way in waterwise conservation. Each year, in partnership with over 60 Colorado municipalities and water providers, we distribute more than 13,000 professionally designed, low-water garden kits tailored for Colorado yards. This position will play an essential role in the distribution of these Garden In A Box kits to customers across the state at around 30 distribution events in May and June. We are looking for a passionate individual with exceptional leadership and customer service skills to help establish vibrant, waterwise landscapes as the new norm in Colorado!
This is an in-person role that involves driving the company vehicle from the Resource Central Boulder office to and from event locations throughout the state. Most events are located throughout the Front Range in four main service regions: Northern Colorado, Boulder, Denver Metro, and South Denver, and travel to locations on the Western Slope including in Durango, Grand Junction, Aspen, and Steamboat Springs may be involved. Hours can vary and range from three to five days per week. The exact start and end date may be flexible. The hourly rate for this position is $20.00 in addition to mileage reimbursement, paid training, and sick leave.
Principal Responsibilities - The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Lead Garden In A Box events: Promote water conservation by leading safe and timely events that create a positive experience for customers.
- Prep & transport materials: Prepare, organize, load, and drive event supplies to and from the event location, including preparing and labeling printed event materials. Assist in additional event prep tasks as needed
- Set the stage for event success: Coordinate all aspects of event set up and post-event cleanup at the event location.
- Show volunteers the rope: Train and lead all on-site volunteers.
- Create positive interactions & support: Provide exceptional service to customers, volunteers, vendors, and water partners ensuring a great experience and addressing any on-site concerns or questions.
- Contribute to a strong sense of belonging where everyone can feel welcomed and included.
- Prioritize safety: Maintain safety as a top priority throughout event setup and execution.
Skills and Abilities:
- Leadership skills and mindset; ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team is required.
- Ability to confidently and effectively problem-solve independently.
- Ability to maintain composure during high-volume events, effectively delegate tasks to staff and volunteers, and multi-task to ensure safe and efficient garden distribution events.
- Basic computer, iPad, and smartphone skills are preferred.
Qualifications
- Must be passionate about helping people conserve water.
- Availability on weeknights and Saturdays is required.
- Must be 21 years of age by April 23, 2025. Driving the work vehicle to and from our Boulder office is required.
- Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to a reliable automobile as it pertains to the required availability and smartphone are required.
- Required to pass a background check and driving record evaluation if offered a position.
- Ability to complete physical labor, including being able to safely lift a maximum of 30 lbs, walk continuously throughout the workday, kneel, lift, and bend repeatedly is required.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, rain, and snow, with a positive attitude.
- Experience working events is preferred.
