Cherokee Classical Academy seeks a full-time Director of Student Services. The Director of Student Services is responsible for managing the various support arms of the school to create conditions where all students can thrive. This position oversees the managers of ESOL, Special Education, and MTSS/504 Coordinators using the general education curriculum to meet the child’s individual needs. This position will report to the Head of School at Cherokee Classical Academy’s Cherokee County campus.
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supervise the managers of the following departments: ESOL, special education, lower school MTSS/504, and at-risk population.
- Adheres to established standards regarding curriculum delivery and requirements as established by the school
- Provides professional instruction and teaching to students with disabilities as appropriate to the specified course or discipline and academic level, using various techniques, including individualized and small group instruction, to promote learning
- Facilitate professional development and evaluation sequence for teachers and leaders within student services that keeps classical education principles at the forefront.
- Supervise the creation of IEP, ESOL, and 504 plans and develop training to help managers and teachers build expertise in writing personalized plans.
- Observe small-group, co-teaching, and other interventions and work with lead interventionists to sharpen and execute the student services instructional rubric.
- Participate in weekly, quarterly, and yearly leadership team meetings. In these conversations, act as a thought leader in the realm of student services and generally champion this subject within the leadership team.
- Work closely with principals to develop metrics for evaluating success of students within student services and develop framework for tracking progress.
- Teach 1-2 hours a day whether small group, co-teaching, or interventions and manage a small caseload.
- Act as liaison between the worlds of student services and general education.
- Coordinate with managers to fulfill testing accommodations for in-class quizzes/tests and major assessments like College Board, GA Milestones, etc.
- Build schedules for ESOL and special education with support of managers.
Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience with a demonstrated track record of success in teaching and leadership experience in a school setting.
- Five or more years of relevant work experience preferred
- Certification in Special Education and/or ESOL required

About Cherokee Classical Academy:
Cherokee Classical Academy (CCA) is a tuition-free public charter school set to launch in Cherokee County, GA. It will open for grades K-6 in the 2025-2026 school year and will continue to add a grade each year until reaching a full K-12 configuration. Families who reside in the counties of Cherokee, Cobb, Bartow, Fulton, Pickens, Paulding, and the cities of Marietta, Cartersville, and Atlanta are eligible to apply for enrollment.
