Cherokee Classical Academy seeks English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Teachers for grade levels Kindergarten through 6th grade. The ESOL Teacher will plan, organize, implement content-focused, language-driven lessons for active and monitored-status ESOL students across many grade levels.  The candidate must demonstrate the willingness to collaborate with classroom/content teachers and to perform administrative duties and student-monitoring. The candidate must be knowledgeable in the areas of second language acquisition and teaching strategies for English learners. This position would report to the Lower School Dean of Academics on Cherokee Classical Academy’s Cherokee County campus. This position starts July 2025. 


The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Adhere to the school’s mission and the principles of classical education.
  • Ensure compliance with all ESOL state and federal guidelines 
  • Teaching English as a second language to students of various ages and proficiency levels.
  • Developing lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the needs of individual students and groups.
  • Assessing students’ language abilities and tailoring instruction to meet their needs.
  • Providing feedback to students on their progress and offering suggestions for improvement.
  • Creating a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters student participation and motivation.
  • Collaborating with other teachers and staff to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Communicating regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs.
  • Staying up-to-date with current trends and developments in ESOL teaching and incorporating them into instruction.
  • Engage professionally and charitably with students, parents, other faculty, and staff  
  • Model good judgment, prudence, virtue, self-discipline, and responsibility 
  • Use appropriate technology in teaching and learning processes, record keeping, assessment, evaluation, and performance analysis

Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a fully accredited college is required.
  • Per state guidance, the individual must possess the following qualifications: 
    • Valid Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in appropriate educational field at level T-4 or above
    • Valid Professional Standards Commission approved subject-specific endorsements 
    • Willingness and ability to obtain proper certification through a GaPSC-approved educator preparation program, including passing relevant assessments, while working under a provisional license.
  • Previous experience in classical education is preferred but not required.
  • Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

About Cherokee Classical Academy:


Cherokee Classical Academy (CCA) is a tuition-free public charter school set to launch in Cherokee County, GA. It will open for grades K-6 in the 2025-2026 school year and will continue to add a grade each year until reaching a full K-12 configuration. Families who reside in the counties of Cherokee, Cobb, Bartow, Fulton, Pickens, Paulding, and the cities of Marietta, Cartersville, and Atlanta are eligible to apply for enrollment.
