Description
Trucking Dispatcher
A. Job Identification
Direct activities related to dispatching, routing and tracking of trucking fleet. This position reports to the Trucking Fleet Manager.
B. Essential Job Functions
- Assist with the scheduling of drivers to accommodate material needs for all locations.
- Monitor, reconcile and maintain raw material inventory for revenue, commission and accounts payable.
- Utilize tracking software for scheduling and tracking fleet. Must have manual back-up plan in case of system failure.
- Communicate with drivers to regarding extra products needed along with job location directions which will utilize fuel saving measures and time efficiency.
- Must be able and willing to perform other job duties requested or assigned. Provide feedback and seek ways to improve and streamline all aspects of the trucking department.
C. Job Requirements
- Must be able to take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors and management.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Must be able to do simple math, such as addition and subtraction.
- Must be able to work various hours to accommodate early and late material delivery requirements Monday through Saturday.
- Must be able to deal with management, co-workers, in a diplomatic, manner in varied stressful situations.
- Must be able to abide by all company policies.
- Must have computer skills.
- Requires decision making that affect other people, financial resources and the image and reputation of the company.
D. Physical Demands
- Requires sitting for the majority of the daily shift
- Requires occasional walking to office equipment within office area.
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds. (Storage boxes, related office items)
- Must be willing and able to type on computer keyboard.
- Have knowledge of other job descriptions in which you may have to perform.
E. Environmental Conditions
- Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
