Description
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking CDL A Laborer to join our Engineering and Construction Department in the railroad industry. The successful candidate will assist in various construction, maintenance, and repair activities related to railroad tracks, structures, and systems. This role requires a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial vehicles (CDL A) for transporting materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of railroad tracks, and other infrastructure.
- Perform manual labor tasks including digging, lifting, shoveling, and carrying materials as part of railroad construction and maintenance projects.
- Safely operate construction equipment, including track machines, forklifts, and other machinery as needed.
- Ensure that all work complies with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain and inspect tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Support the engineering and construction team in preparing job sites and performing other duties as needed.
- Follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors and managers to complete daily tasks efficiently and safely.
- Assist in the assembly and disassembly of temporary structures as needed for projects.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety standards at all times.
Qualifications:
- Valid CDL A driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in construction or railroad industry preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more) and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and ability to follow all safety procedures.
- Knowledge of basic hand tools and construction equipment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and in all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, as necessary.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous railroad construction experience or working knowledge of railroad systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, standing, walking, and working for long hours.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including exposure to extreme temperatures, rain, or snow.

Salary Description
Starting at $28/hr based on experience
