GOH is a small management consulting firm that has been supporting the federal government since 1997. 


GOH is seeking an experienced Grants Portfolio Manager to support our Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) client. PCORI is an independent, non-profit research funding organization that seeks to empower patients and others with actionable information about their health and healthcare choices. It funds patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) and research-related awards, issuing funding opportunity announcements several times each year. CER is a type of clinical research that compares two or more medical treatments, services, or health practices to help patients and others make better-informed decisions.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities: The Grants Portfolio Manager will support the full grant lifecycle for PCORI programs by conducting activities including, but not limited to: 

  • Providing post-award administration and management services supporting a portfolio of 15-20 awardees/recipients 
  • Preparing, processing, issuing, and tracking grants/assistance awards and compliance with reporting requirements 
  • Monitoring and assessing awardee performance 
  • Monitoring, assessing, and ensuring awardee compliance with terms and conditions of award 
  • Conducting post-award reviews and analyses to identify management, financial, and administrative issues 
  • Performing final review of completed awards, making appropriate adjustments or disallowances, and processing close-outs 
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements 
  • Performing the necessary database collections, coordination, entry, verification, validation, maintenance and integration with PCORI performance assessment collections. 
  • Helping grantees navigate the post-award process and any challenges that arise 
  • Supporting the award facilitation process by providing timely and effective budget services and award (or amendment) documentation preparation 
  • Negotiating final awards with prospective grantees
  • Conducting reviews to assess the recipient’s progress, determine which metrics will be considered to address shortfalls, and identify at-risk recipients that may require additional technical assistance 
  • Fostering transparent communication between awardees and program staff 
  • Managing compliance and reporting protocols 
  • Documenting outputs, outcomes, and impacts of awards 
  • Understanding PCORI processes and protocols 

Competency (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • At least 2 years of full lifecycle grants management for a grantor (please note grant writing and experience as a grantee is not considered relevant
  • Comfortable working onsite in client-facing role
  • Experience working with scientific community/stakeholders
  • Experience with the audit review process and ability to answer detailed questions from audit team
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects and reporting performance to stakeholders.
  • Expertise in program design, development, and implementation
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage stakeholders and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop toolkits and resources to support operational efficiency and workforce development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience identifying risks, process improvements, and mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office or Google Docs.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines.

Requirements

Work Environment: The work environment is a typical hybrid/remote office setting. 


Physical demands: The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods and occasional walking and standing.


Position type and expected work hours: This is a full-time exempt position. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday, 40-50 hours per week. Some job activities may be required outside of typical workdays/hours. Overtime is expected during peak periods.


Travel: 10% local and regional travel, with overnight stays may be necessary
