POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The foundation of this position is to serve the external retail customer, real estate professionals, the community, as well as the internal customers of the Bank in meeting their retail needs. This position requires strong customer service and sales skills and an aptitude that will contribute to the overall marketing effort of the Bank. This position requires a strong understanding and recognition of the need to interact with branch staff to achieve common goals. An enthusiastic willingness to suggest upgrades and improvements to lending products and services is encouraged. This position requires regular participation with community organizations and related projects.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is primarily focused on loan origination, responsible for generating and closing consumer loan, residential and commercial loans while providing exceptional customer service. In addition, this individual will be tasked with developing deposit relationships and contributing to the overall growth of the bank’s retail sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of lending and deposit products, the ability to build and maintain relationships, and a proactive approach to business development.
Essential Functions:
- Take a sales-oriented approach to customer service
- Effectively and efficiently provide lending assistance at the financial institution, including, but not limited to, originating new mortgage loans and assisting with mortgage loans in process, originating consumer loans and explaining loan products and services in general.
- Solicit mortgage loans upon request or absence of Regional Loan Originators
- Interview loan applicants and educate prospective loan clients of the financial institutions underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations
- Order credit reports and complete loan applications along with all pre-processing paperwork in a timely fashion
- Answer incoming phone calls, provide information and answer questions related to available loan products
- Identify and develop new deposit relationships, including business and consumer accounts.
- Work with existing and prospective loan customers to cross-sell deposit products and other retail banking solutions.
- Travel to and support all North Country Savings Bank lending markets when assigned by Regional Loan Originator and/or Retail Lending Management.
- Demonstrate a high degree of comfort with explaining loan decisions to applicants
- Schedule appointments to meet with customers and prospective customers
- Effectively cross-sell our products and services
- Participate regularly with community organizations and related projects
- Display a consistent effort to build and maintain strong internal relationships
- Completion of all mandatory training

Basic knowledge of all lending products and services offered by the bank and the willingness to learn about our products is essential.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
Experience:
A minimum of two years’ experience in a financial institution or retail services setting
Skills:
Basic understanding and knowledge of bank loan products and services
A desire to develop and utilize cross-selling, management and organizational skills
