Description

  

The Biomedical Equipment Technician I (BMET I) provides clinical equipment services for DASCO’s national fleet of home medical equipment. Typical equipment requiring service includes ventilators, oxygen concentrators, CPAP devices and wound pumps. Duties include, but are not limited to, validation and inspection of clinical equipment for completeness, mechanical and electrical safety, and proper operation. 


Requirements

 Responsibilities:

  • Perform functional inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections (ESI), and operation verification procedures (OVP) on general home medical equipment
  • Repair, install, and calibrate home medical equipment
  • Periodically update supervisors of repair status, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any internal stakeholder concerns
  • Maintain workorder system which includes capturing warranty start and end dates, initiate work order and document service events. Responsible for ensuring all service and documentation is complete, timely, and accurate
  • Order replacement parts from suppliers and maintain inventory stocking levels consistent with repair demands. 
  • Lead remediation efforts associated with manufactures medical device corrections, field safety notices and recalls. Support the retrieval of devices which may require remediation
  • Understand and adhere to the manufacturer’s guidelines for use and maintenance.  Where opportunities exist, develop and adhere to a Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), including all regulatory agency compliances and other applicable policies and procedures
  • Provide recommendations regarding the condition of inventory in preparation for replacement budgeting
  • Maintain biomedical expertise through ongoing training and education
  • All other duties as assigned


Skills and Experience:

  • Complex computer skills including the ability to interpret error codes, defragment hard-drives, replace power supplies, and interpret computer codes required
  • Ability to integrate information from a variety of sources
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Education and Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent military experience or two years of equivalent experience.
  • 3 months experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required; variable travel requirements depending on primary site that may require use of personal vehicle
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds from ground elevation to a workbench
