CCS - Teachers Assistant

Summary:

The Teacher Assistant is responsible for assistant in implementing all components of the children’s services curriculum within his/her designated classroom in a manner which is reflective of KCARC’s mission to advocate and provide opportunities in dignified and respectful manner for the total well-being of individuals and families with special needs.

Qualifications:

  • Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department.
  • Maintain good hygiene.
  • Possess excellent research and writing skills.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Possess the ability to use tact and empathy when dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
  • Possess the ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office products (Computer literate).
  • Accept responsibility and demonstrate leadership.
  • Be able to multitask effectively in a sometimes fast paced environment.


Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must possess a CDA or must begin working toward a CDA after first year of employment, or an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Tuition assistance is available. (Preferred)
  • Background experience in developmentally appropriate practices in an Early Childhood setting.
  • Must demonstrate insight, sensitivity, flexibility, and a strong desire to work with children.


Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:

  • CPR/First Aid
  • Ability to pass state required physical


Physical Demands:

The position requires staff to alternate from a sitting position to a standing position frequently. Repetitive motion required. Lifting, bending, twisting, and turning are required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties.


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate but occasionally loud. Use of Personal Protective Equipment such as vinyl gloves is occasionally required.
