Research Acoustician
Venesco is seeking a Research Acoustician to support the Warfighter Interactions and Readiness Division (RHW) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Candidates will be submitted with Venesco's proposal for this position. FOPR 25-16
The Warfighter Interactions and Readiness Division (RHW) located within RH is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Acoustician to support our Cognition and Modeling Branch’s (RHWE) RDT&E efforts.
US Citizenship is required for this position. A Secret Clearance / Eligibility for a Secret Clearance is required.
Tasks
- 1.3.1 The contractor employee shall have a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in place based on the potential access to confidential, proprietary, and/or sensitive information. The NDA shall be provided to the Government Program Manager by start of performance.
- 1.3.2 The contractor employee shall assist with the direction of or recommend new RDT&E efforts across the physical acoustics and bioacoustics technical subject matter areas.
- 1.3.3 The contractor employee shall conduct and evaluate technical reviews of research proposals, SOWs, and project reports at the discretion of the government representative.
- 1.3.4 The contractor employee shall maintain or guide aircraft noise data collection capabilities and will conduct experiments to study the acoustic properties of materials and effects of sound waves in different environments including fieldwork to record and document data.
- 1.3.5 The contractor employee shall develop and implement numerical models to simulate acoustic phenomena using software tools and analyze experimental data to draw conclusions about sound propagation and mission-related impacts.
- 1.3.6 The contractor employee shall prepare reports, research papers, and briefings to communicate findings to both internal and external stakeholders.
- 1.3.7 The contractor employee shall collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on projects involving acoustic measurement, material testing, and environmental assessments.
- 1.3.8 The contractor employee shall serve as the focal point forrequirements, and recommend the purchasing and maintenance of laboratory equipment used for acoustic testing and analysis.
Qualifications
Mandatory Qualifications
- 1.1.1 The contractor employee shall possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in digital modeling physics or engineering research.
- 1.1.2 The contractor employee shall possess a Ph.D. in a qualifying acoustics university program, or Master of Science degree and at least three (3) years’ experience modeling and simulation in noise source and noise propagation modeling.
- 1.1.3 The contractor employee shall have three (3) or more peer-reviewed publications in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America (JASA), Noise Control Engineering Journal (NCEJ), American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Aeroacoustics, or related acoustics journals.
- 1.1.4 The contractor employee shall have three (3) or more aircraft acoustics field data collection experiences. Some experiences with traditional manned DoD aircraft preferred, but non-traditional aircraft (e.g. rockets, electric vehicles, air taxis, or uncrewed aerial vehicles) are also preferred.
- 1.1.5 The contractor employee shall be able to be granted a Secret Clearance, with the Contractor initiating the investigation immediately upon award.
Highly Desired Qualification
- 1.2.1 Familiarity with the primary DoD, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) digital modeling tools for aircraft noise simulation in existence and under development.
- 1.2.2 Prior experience with the digital library archive and standard formatting of DoD aircraft noise datasets, currently stored at 711 HPW/RHWE.
- 1.2.3 Active Secret Clearance.
