POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Part-time Van Driver

Reports To:  Transportation Coordinator

Date:  February 2025

Position Role

A part-time position under the general supervision of the Transportation Coordinator that is responsible for the transporting of EARS, Inc. clients over assigned routes; ensuring vehicle operation is in a safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of the EARS, Inc. clients during transport, loading and unloading from vans.

Essential Responsibilities

· Assists EARS, Inc. clients for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading from van including both emergency situations (including van evacuation) and normal transport.

· Attends trainings for the purpose of maintaining skills, meeting insurance requirements, and providing client care. 

· Drives EARS, Inc. vans for the purpose of transporting clients over scheduled routes and to/from EARS, Inc. programs in a safe and timely manner. 

· Informs EARS, Inc. personnel of practices and incidents for the purpose of providing information for follow-up action/procedure.

· Maintains assigned van, both interior and exterior for the purpose of ensuring the safety, appearance, and sanitation of vehicle.

· Consults with program staff to understand best practices in relating to each passenger. Consults with Program Specialist regarding incidents and restrictions of van transportation.

Qualifications/Prerequisites

· Adherence to the EARS Inc. core values. 

· Ability to effectively communicate with individuals served.

· Ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from individuals, family members, or members of the general community.

· Ability to provide quality services.

· Ability to work honestly and with integrity.

· Valid driver's license/acceptable driving record.

· Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs, perform minor vehicle repairs and ability to administer First Aid and CPR.

· Must possess and maintain a safe driving record.

· Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, with a clean driving record. 

· High School Diploma or GED.

Work Experience

· Experience in operating a 15 passenger van.

· Knowledge of local area roads and highways.

· Experience working with Intellectually Disabled Adults.
